A DISPOSABLE CAMERA - FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE NIGHT

As this eventful season is almost upon us it may be time to invest in a disposable camera. An exciting way to capture your night out with all your friends! You can take photos starting from getting ready for a night out, right until the end when you’re back home having pizza with your friends. Disposable cameras are a great way of ensuring you don’t need to take your phone everywhere and still capture the special moments. Spring is the perfect season for your photography talent to make a debut. Bright colours and clear weather always look spectacular on film. If you don’t want to pay for the film or to get your pictures developed; an alternative is to download a film app on your phone. Try out Dazz cam (a personal favourite), Huji cam, Dispo or KD Pro.

SICK OF SILK

I’m sure you’re all a little sick of the backless silk/satin dresses that have been appearing at balls very frequently for the past two years. I admit it is hard to find elegant dresses that aren’t formal/too showy and which aren’t silk. It’s all about finding the right dress with great material and flattering cut. If you’re looking to rent a dress; allthedresses.co.nz is a New Zealand online retailer that shows you loads of dresses from different rental shops all in one place. Some brands include the very popular Bec + Bridge, Natalie Rolt and Camilla and Marc. There are plenty of options available to rent for under $100 and even some around $50 if you paid for your own ticket and are looking to save some money. Not to mention that renting/borrowing a dress is also another super easy way to reduce your carbon footprint!

A DULL DILEMMA

Pick a date, get a suit, shirt, shoes, tie and you’re done. What a short process for the lads! But if you’re looking to spice up your look I suggest picking an interesting tie/bowtie/shirt. I’m not saying it has to be five different colours but it could simply have a unique design/texture. Take your creativity in stride and wear it in an interesting way. If you’re a boss woman wearing a suit there are many ways you can take your outfit to the next level! Anyone can add colour coordinated nails, a sophisticated corsage or a satin/knit bralette underneath to add an interesting touch. Check with your date to see if your outfit matches theirs before you do something drastic! Or you could try colour blocking with your suit choice and rock your fit with no tie at all!

HAIR IS KEY

The difference at the end of the night- is between someone who has taken time to do their hair meticulously and one who has just brushed it out quickly. One will look put together while the other will resemble a hiker who got chased by a bear through the woods. You see you always need a little hairspray/gel/cream to keep the wispies in place. If you’re going to be having fun all night, your hair is sure to get messy if it’s not secure. Your hair can also change the way your dress/suit looks. Having your hair curled can contribute to a softer, more open look (you may even be able to get away with a side part)! If you’re going for a more elegant and (dare I say) ‘edgy’ look, straightened hair or a sleek updo is the way to go. If you’re going to be wearing jewellery make sure your earrings compliment your hair nicely.
